Personal Statement

Amanda is an educator in the science department of a high school in Wayne, NJ. Having worked with high school students during the school year and children from K-12 during the summer, she has experience with children of all ages and experience teaching biology, algebra, ACT Science and ACT Math. She believes students learn best when they develop ownership of their learning through discovering knowledge and with consistent practice. As a teacher and tutor, it is Kearns’ passion to help guide students in reaching their goals. She enjoys aiding students in solving problems with information they already know, while thinking outside the box. Kearns holds a master’s degree in biological sciences education from Drew University and a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Drew University. In her free time she enjoys crocheting, painting, exercising, kayaking, and adventuring out to experience new places and activities.
