Personal Statement

Arnold started his work career as an engineer. Later, he became a school teacher and taught in the Philadelphia School District, and then later as a science adjunct at several colleges. In all these jobs, he worked to translate abstract physical principles into practical design guidelines. He learned that when he really learned a new idea, he could find many places to use that idea.

“These relationships may become models for understanding larger questions. For example mass and inertia might become models for social inertia. As you encounter new ideas, you will be able to use your existing knowledge to integrate new ideas. You will see how these ideas come together. Relevant exercises provide a tool for you to put these ideas and relationships to the test.”
