Carl Sagan once stated, “Science is more than a body of knowledge. It’s a way of thinking.” Dan takes that principle and applies that to the variety of courses he teaches at a Blue-Ribbon Award winning school in Northern NJ. He teaches various levels of biology along with a multi-disciplinary research course and evidence-based writing class. While delivering subject area content with humor and wit, he maintains high expectations for his students and consistently demands claims made by students be supported with credible evidence and data to demonstrate their knowledge of a topic. The skills he attempts to build with his students have a broad spectrum of application within and outside of the sciences. Past students of Dan’s who have entered higher education email him frequently thanking him for preparing them for the challenges of undergraduate and graduate level work. Dan holds a B.S. in Biology and a MS Ed. in Science Education. When not attempting to ascertain the truth of our reality and raising his two children, he produces music and creates abstract art.
