Ed, a dedicated tutor since 2013, has helped dozens of students improve their SAT and ACT scores significantly and gain admission to their top-choice colleges. He thinks of the SAT as a game and himself as a coach who will give you the tools to get to the next level. He knows the tests inside out, having scored 2400/2400 on the SAT and 170/170 on GRE math. Having been accepted to Harvard, Princeton, and other prestigious universities, Ed knows what top colleges are looking for. As a classical singer and fan of basketball and musical theatre, Ed likes to use sports and music analogies to make concepts more relatable for students.
“I start out by having students take a diagnostic test to assess strengths and weaknesses. Upon receiving results and discussing goals with the student, I will craft lessons that hit upon commonly tested topics that the student is having issues with (e.g. systems of equations, rules of punctuation) and the various permutations that the test might throw the student’s way. I will also give tips on strategy to best eliminate answers. I might then provide practice problems that test the concept, in different wording, to reinforce understanding. Homework will be assigned to target weak points and provide reinforcement through repetition. I am positive, provide plenty of encouragement while being realistic, and am enthusiastic about what I teach.”
