Personal Statement

Jennifer received her undergraduate degree at Eckerd College studying Marine Science prior to receiving her Masters degree in Science at University of South Florida. She specialized in Marine Biomedical research which led to a patent from a deep water sea sponge. Her publications are in “Biochemical Pharmacology” and “The journal of Marine Education.” She has taught in private and public sectors of education for over 10 years as well as an adjunct professor at Centenary College. Some areas of study that she has taught include but are not limited to; Biology, Marine Science, Oceanography, Earth and Life Sciences, Environmental Science, and Chemistry. Her philosophy is that teachers must have exceptional knowledge of their subject matter and stay current with knowledge from within their field. Jennifer is passionate about the core subject being taught and likes to teach it in a way that the students can relate to. She also believes each student should be challenged, however not overwhelmed. It is important to know how to how to study and what particular avenues works for each individual. She also enjoys sailing, scuba diving, hiking, seine netting, playing with her children, and/or anything to do in nature and discovery.
