Jeremy

Personal Statement

Jeremy is an experienced educator who has been teaching in independent schools for the past thirteen years. He enjoys partnering with students to help them identify their goals and aspirations as they consider their academic potential. Jeremy strives to foster intellectual engagement within his students, equipping them to become life-long learners who are aware of the learning styles and strategies that work best for them. A teacher of English, he loves literature, reading and writing, and is eager to share his passion for the subject with his students. Jeremy is well versed in various teaching and pedagogical methods, and believes that individuated instruction maximizes a student’s academic performance in the classroom and beyond. Jeremy received his BA in English from Princeton University in 2002 and his MA in English from Stony Brook University in 2007. Additionally, he was a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at Harvard University in the summer of 2010. He currently is a Klingenstein Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University, and he will receive his M.Ed. in Education Leadership in May 2015. He has worked in both boarding school and day school settings since 2002, serving as an English teacher, soccer and tennis coach, and dorm parent. He resides with his wife and three children in northern New Jersey where they enjoy going for walks, playing sports, and working in their garden.
