Masters and Ph.D.
John is a doctoral candidate at Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. John holds a BA in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Dayton. Before beginning his doctoral work, he spent several years working in government and politics at local and state levels in Ohio. John’s main research interests surround the intersection of urban food system development and the challenges that America’s postindustrial cities face in a globalizing world. John believes that one-on-one tutoring is a key to student success.
“I try to develop a rapport as learning equals with my students. While my knowledge generally greatly outweighs that of my students, I believe I am learning from my students while they are learning from me. I focus on creating relatable examples or corollaries for students. Often this requires creating many different examples to discover one that effectively connects with the individual student.”
