Personal Statement

Upon completion of college studies, Kim followed her passion for helping people grow and working in the community by volunteering in South Africa. She signed up to teach English and Math to children in various townships, and grew the opportunity by designing and implementing a program to successfully train other volunteers to teach the children. This amazing, eye-opening experience taught Kim many things about the world, teaching, and herself that she currently reflects on to assist her students. She learned to be patient and how to modify lessons to fit a student’s learning style and ability. This has become very helpful in Kim’s teaching and tutoring career.
