Personal Statement

Rose feels that her background as a Special Educator and Learning Disabilities-Teacher Consultant is an asset to your child. She has extensive experience diagnosing students with learning difficulties in reading, writing, and math and developing individualized learning strategies to strengthen and improve areas of need. She feels it is the tutor’s role to identify the student’s strengths and guide them to build upon their strengths in order to make connections to higher level skills. Her approach is to work toward increasing foundation skills in reading, writing, and spelling in order to apply these skills to grade level content. As a patient and experienced educator, she believes it is important to make learning a positive experience for each student. Developing rapport with a student is as important to her as developing academic skills. She has found that taking time to share a story or converse about extra-curricular interests and hobbies helps to maintain a positive student/teacher relationship throughout the tutoring experience.
