Personal Statement

Vinayak holds a BA in Psychology and currently works as a strategic sales & marketing consultant for fortune 500 retailers & technology companies. He’s interested in going back to school for a Masters in Technology and pivot his sales and marketing experience into supporting researchers and technologists he believes in find funding for their work.

Vinayak has kept an excellent track record and rapport with his students, expressing a can-be-done attitude toward any challenge. Recently, he supported Rewaa in going from a 3 to a 5 on her AP Computer Science Principles exam, Abdulla, a graduate student, go from a failing grade to a B in his cryptography class, and helped Lane, a professional musician, learn Python and Arduino so she could develop interactive sets for her off-broadway performance this fall.

Vinayak’s strategy is very simple: first, he evaluates the unique challenges his students are facing in their education, identifies what problems and questions they find most difficult, explores specifically why these questions are difficult, then customizes solutions to help them overcome those setbacks. Vinayak has a knack for breaking down traditional hard-to-grasp concepts into more consumable real-world analogies. He believes it’s not enough just to know the right answer and emphasizes understanding the logic the question is designed to challenge. In this way, his students are prepared for all sorts of curveballs on their exams as well as in life.
