Personal Statement
All Antonio's efforts as a teacher arise from a desire to help students reach their full potential academically. In order to do so, students must demand the best of themselves, in part by internalizing the values and expectations of their teachers. Several aspects of his teaching facilitate this internalization process. All of his pedagogical practices seek to instill the intrinsic value of obtaining knowledge on a daily basis. He truly believes in the capacity of education to transform lives when students are encouraged to make what they learn in the classroom relevant and real for them in the outside world. Antonio strives to make learning a positive experience. He also believes teaching increases the knowledge of students as well as that of the instructor. Antonio continually seeks to improve his abilities as an educator. Over the years, he has come to understand that students learn through a variety of methods and his teaching addresses the wide diversity in learning. Overall, he became a teacher because he loves sharing his knowledge and expertise with students.
