Brian
Personal Statement
Brian is an experienced educator and tutor with over fifteen years of working with students. As a former kindergarten and English teacher, now a tutor and adjunct professor, Brian believes in a coaching model, where each student receives individualized support, encouragement, guidance, and knowledge. Like an athlete or performer, no two educational trajectories are the same and they need constant adjustment and refinement. Brian believes in serving learners through an interdisciplinary and holistic approach that emphasizes goal-setting, benchmarking, and celebrating success! Brian graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from SUNY Geneseo with degrees in English, Secondary Education, and Theatre; from Boston University with his J.D. and Tax LL.M.; and from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management with his MBA and minor in Real Estate. He has scored in the top 96-99th percentile on the SAT, LSAT, GMAT, and GRE. By day, Brian works as a tax and estate planning attorney, and teaches in financial planning, estate planning, business law and ethics, finance, and capital markets. In his free time, Brian enjoys performing Shakespeare plays (13 out of 37!), serving on non-profit boards, playing competitive and collaborative board games, and reading in multiple book clubs.
