Personal Statement

George is a retired actuary and investment professional who has a deep understanding of how mathematics is applied in the business world. Investment managers, economists, accountant, actuaries, engineers, and many other professionals rely on mathematical models to guide their decisions. Math was tremendously useful to him in his first career as an actuary. (A career repeatedly rated as the #1 career in America!) But while he has taken a lot of advanced math courses, he still finds that the simplest concepts can be the most fun to explain and discuss. Math at any level — even basic arithmetic — is subtle and beautiful. And he strongly believe that anyone can understand mathematics.
