Personal Statement
Ha is a professional tutor with extensive teaching and mentoring experience. Prior to medical school, Ha earned a PhD degree in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and a BA degree in Biochemistry from College of St. Benedict’s and St. John’s University. Over the past 15 years, Ha has performed many teaching and private tutoring positions for various math and science subjects. During her doctoral study, Ha was awarded the Graduate Teaching Award for her excellent performance in General and Organic Chemistry. She also participated in TutorNet program, a non-profit organization that aims to provide continued educational support for local 6-12 middle and high school students. Ha’s teaching philosophy is student-centered which focuses on providing the students the information, knowledge, and skills to be ready for success. Her teaching involves constant assessment and feedback to improve the learner’s five essential characteristics: imagination, intuition, individuality, idealism, and inspiration.
