Personal Statement
Hannah is a lifelong learner, who is now teaching at a nearby elementary school in Chatham, NJ. Having worked with a variety of elementary students across grade levels, she has experience teaching all of the core subject subject areas. Hannah’s background in primary grades background has given her significant training in supporting emergent language and literacy skills to build strong readers and writers. Hannah believes that students will learn best when the work is meaningful, connects to real world situations, and is relevant to the student. Children also need opportunities to actively engage with the content. As a teacher and tutor, two of her greatest joys are connecting with students personally and watching students tackle challenges and reach their highest potential. Hannah holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the same university. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the Watchung reservation with her dog, skiing in Vermont, and traveling around the country.
