Personal Statement
Jacob currently holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine and a BA in chemistry from Rutgers. Jacob has done two postdoctoral scholar programs, one in desalination at the University of Kentucky and another in data mining at the University of Michigan. During his postdoctoral scholar program at University of Michigan, Jacob was invited to present his work to a team at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Throughout his career, he has mentor undergraduate and graduate student’s career progress and research projects. Jacob believes each student has their own strengths and weakness, and that by focusing on the weakness first, learning outcome improve. He strives to engage each student with the empathy the he was in their shoes at one time in his life. In his free time, Jacob enjoys gardening, cooking, and hiking.
