Jordan
Personal Statement
Jordan is a triple major in biochemistry, general chemistry, and molecular biology, with a minor in political science, from the Macaulay Honors College at the College of Staten Island. Upon learning about the placebo effect in sixth grade he developed an immense passion for STEM, and in particular the medical field, the human brain, and what he could do to learn more about each. This led him to become involved in four research labs in his undergraduate career, two devoted to neuroscience (on treatments for glioblastoma and the effect/treatment of neurotoxins), one devoted to increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic panels, and one devoted to analyzing the protein structure of membrane proteins. In addition to furthering his own passion, he sought to help others further their own, working as a peer mentor to help incoming college students achieve their aspirations throughout, and beyond, their undergraduate career, and tutoring students in several STEM subject areas. Jordan believes that everyone learns best uniquely, and it's therefore important to figure out what type of learner each student is first, and then create a customized plan specifically for them to ensure that they achieve their goal.
