Personal Statement

Kevin completed his Masters in Chinese language and literature at Stanford University (GPA: 4.0). As an experienced speaker of the language, he understands the challenges and rewards that come with mastering such a language. He is able to tutor all levels of Chinese (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) as well as Business Chinese and Classical Chinese. Many beginner students of Chinese have told him they prefer being taught by a non-native speaker. This is because when native speakers teach their own language to beginner students, they often take fundamental vocabulary and grammar principles for granted without offering a comprehensive or logical explanation. Having self-studied Chinese from beginner to advanced level, Kevin is able to provide complete explanations of key vocabulary/grammar in ways that students can quickly and effectively grasp.
