Kim has a variety of interests and considers herself a lifelong learner. She holds a BA in French from Dickinson College, and an MBA in Marketing from UC Berkeley. While in college, Kim spent her junior year abroad in Strasbourg, France. The experience of learning a foreign language and living in another culture was life-changing, and it inspired her to later take an immersion course in Salamanca, Spain to learn Spanish. Kim has numerous years of professional experience in consumer marketing and retail leadership. In addition, she also has a strong passion for health and fitness after taking up running while raising a family. In recent years, she has competed in a variety of endurance sports from 5k’s to marathons, triathlons, and even snowshoeing. These experiences have taught her that we are all capable of much more than we realize. Hoping to inspire others, Kim has earned coaching certifications and coached running at all levels, from 4th graders to high school cross country athletes. Kim always starts by breaking down the fundamentals, and then follows up with specific guidance and encouragement. Kim applies this same approach to tutoring. She enjoys getting to know each of her students individually to understand their goals and strengths, as well as their challenges. She then creates a customized plan that incorporates her ability to explain things clearly, have some light-hearted fun, and support the process with patience, persistence and problem-solving abilities. To Kim, there is nothing more rewarding than to see a student experience an “aha” moment when they finally understand something they’ve struggled with, or achieve a test score or grade they never thought possible. This is often an exciting turning point, when a student begins to feel more confidence and motivation, and starts to acquire a greater love for learning.
