Personal Statement

Trained as a classical oboist at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, Russell has many years of experience teaching musicians of all ages and backgrounds, as well as tutoring students in academic subjects. He enjoys finding the parallels between these two disciplines, and helping students overcome frustration and work toward their goals. He believes in tailoring his approach to the specific needs of each student by determining their unique learning style. He believes that the greatest improvements come from the work done between lessons, and to that end hopes to empower students to feel confident in their own abilities and self-motivated in their work.
