Personal Statement
Scotty graduated Poet Laureate from Cairn University in 2017 with a B.A. in English. In Cairn’s Honors Colloquium, his love of story fueled the composition of his senior thesis on narrative structure in film. Since undergrad, Scotty’s passion for words’ creative potential has taken him down increasingly diverse avenues. In addition to his work as a Pastoral Resident with Redemption Church of Bristol, Scotty has written articles for Hidden City Philadelphia and Broad Street Review on art installations and refurbished urban architecture. Scotty’s love of words doesn’t stop with stories and culture. Through his extensive vocabulary and easygoing presence, he can connect with nearly anyone in a manner of minutes. Through knowledge, graphs, and humor, Scotty makes complex ideas immediately accessible to everyone he teaches.
