Susan is an experienced educator who takes pride in her conscientious and caring approach to teaching. She builds a rapport with her students and encourages their growth through patient yet challenging instruction that builds on individual strengths and promotes confidence in areas in which a student struggles. She has taught ELA at the middle and high school levels since 1989 including over ten years teaching AP English Language and Composition as well as AP English Literature and Composition. Susan is especially adept at guiding reluctant writers through the writing process whether it is for a literary analysis, a personal essay, or a research paper. She supports students in finding their own voice and overcoming any insecurities they have about their writing. Even students who are confident in their writing have expressed gratitude that they were able to become even better writers with Susan's help.
